Getting started
Where and how do I access DML's collections and features?+
DML gives you two platforms. The Marketplace is where you browse 200+ curated collections, set up ad campaigns, and order articles. The Hub is where you create your own custom collections. To get in, request an account — you'll receive an invite once you're approved.
How do I add a new user to my account?+
New users request access through an invite link. A DML team member will respond to the request within 1–3 business days.
How do I find collections in the Marketplace?+
Use the search bar to look up keywords or a collection name, or click All Products in the left navigation to browse everything available.
What kind of training and education do you provide?+
Start with the Resource Center for guides and walkthroughs. When you're ready, contact support to schedule a quick, one-time dedicated training session for your team.
Collections & embedding
What is a collection?+
A collection is an assortment of articles grouped together and hosted on a publisher or brand website. Each one comes with an embed code for easy integration — and it opens on top of your page, so your audience never has to leave the host site.
What are products?+
Products are collections that are available to embed on a publisher's website. They're organized by topic so you can find the right fit for your audience.
Can I create my own collections?+
Yes — build them in the Publisher Hub by pasting article URLs, using RSS feeds, or providing your website details. Note that only articles published using the Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) standard can be included.
How do I embed a collection?+
Find a collection in the Marketplace or Hub, click the embed button, choose your layout and item count (the default is 4×1), then copy the HTML code and paste it onto your website.
Do DML collections slow down page loading time?+
No. Hosting collections on your site won't slow down your page load time — the embed loads asynchronously.
Who gets credit for pageviews and ad impressions?+
The content producer always gets the pageview credit and ad impressions for their content within DML collections.
Content formats & AMP
What is AMP'd content?+
AMP stands for Accelerated Mobile Pages — a standard that restricts HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to keep pages loading fast. DML uses AMP as the standard for its embeddable viewers.
Are there requirements to include custom content in a collection?+
Custom content must be AMP'd to be included directly. If your content isn't in AMP format, DML can host it for you instead.
What do I do if I have custom content that is not AMP'd?+
You can redirect readers to sponsored articles the way native ads work, or contact support to arrange DML hosting options for the content.
Do ad creatives have to be static?+
Right-rail banners support PNG, JPG, and GIF. In-article ads support those formats plus HTML5 and third-party tags.
Pricing, campaigns & measurement
Is there a cost to use DML collections?+
Embedding collections is always free — though DML may run ads on them. Paid plans are required if you want to run your own ads, reproduce articles in print, or embed ad-free collections.
How should we price a content series to sponsors?+
There are two common approaches. Share-of-voice uses a fixed monthly or quarterly rate — for example, $2,000 per month. Impression-based uses a CPM model — for example, 100,000 impressions at a $15 CPM comes to $1,500 per month. DML generally recommends a $10–$15 CPM for premium placements.
Where do I set up ad campaigns?+
Ad campaigns are configured in the Campaign Manager section of the DML Marketplace.
Do collections carry market exclusivity?+
No — collections are not exclusive to specific markets or publishers. If you need an exclusive collection, contact support and one can be developed for you.
Why is there a discrepancy between Google Ad Manager and Console impressions?+
They measure different things. Google Ad Manager counts an impression when the sponsor's assets load from the ad server, which is typically a little slower. The DML Console counts a collection load at 25% viewability. Because they track different events — analytics versus banner delivery — the numbers won't match exactly.
